Albondón rises from the heart of the sierra,
defying the rugged terrain. The surroundings are so severe that mass
tourism has not yet smoothed its special appeal.
As white as the snows of the high sierras in winter, the village is
picture-postcard pretty, a place where the tranquility all around soothes
away all stress and hurry.
Those who come seeking thrills and adventure,
however, will find plenty to get their adrenalin going, for example attempting
the climbs, from easy to very tough, around Albondón.
There are also many mountain paths to explore;
the track called Alcaiceña links Albondón with Murtas, while the path known
as La Angostura leads to Albuñol. Another old track provides a good way to
get to Sorvilán.
