Almuñécar

Almuñécar is a legendary town nestling in a tropical valley on the shores of the Mediterranean. It lies between Granada, the city of the Alhambra, and cosmopolitan Málaga, just 90 minutes from the ski resort of Sierra Nevada and 75 minutes from the international airport at Málaga.

It is a historical town, with abundant archaelogical remains; its people are friendly and welcoming, and still maintain their traditions and customs; the urban landscape is on a scale between that of a small town and a large village; the 20 km (12 miles) of beaches are bordered by pine-topped cliffs overlooking the transparent blue waters of the sea; there are exotic birds and tropical trees, nature reserves and surprising vistas towards the horizon; there is a solid infrastructure of tourist facilities and a lively night life that coexists with a multitude of quiet, peaceful corners; the possibilities for leisure, recreation and sports are immense, while the local gastronomy is based on seafood and on the subtropical crops of the region, washed down with fine wines from the vineyards high on the hills overlooking Almuñécar.
